LODGE NEWS

October gave us a little breather from the hectic schedule we’ve been on. Oktoberfest came to a close at the Deutsches Haus and was very successful. We received two petitions, one for plural membership and another for the three degrees.

W. Bro. Henry Tibodaux and I have been recognized for our involvement in Masonry by the Scottish Rite. Both of us will be presented red hats in November. Unfortunately the date falls on November 8, in Shreveport and I will be at the Germanfest. W. Bro. Henry will be at the ceremonies along with W. Bro. Eddie Bopp who is Venerable Master this year.

Our Master Mason Degree team has been invited to put on a real MM degree at Dante Lodge on November 3. We have accepted and encourage all members of Germania to come support us and participate. There is nothing like good fellowship between lodges.
W.M. Steele has plans for a very special Past Master’s Night at our regular meeting on Nov. 12. No degree work, just a fun, short program with good food after. To all Past Masters: PLEASE COME TO THIS VERY SPECIAL MEETING.

Last: Thursday October 30, Albert Pike Lodge will host the 16th district at 946 Jefferson Hwy. in Jefferson. They have been unbeatable in winning the traveling gavel so let get a good turnout for the meeting. Yours truly is the Junior Warden.

Thanks to Bro. Bill Shotts from Denver Lodge #5 who donated $100 to our building fund. Bro. Bill is a New Orleans native who now resided in Denver. He was very generous with his time, vehicle and good fellowship for all the brothers who traveled to Denver. Also, thanks to these good brothers who made donations to the fund, Brothers Willard Burley P.M., Eldred Gilmore H.P.M., Earl Schackai, John Schackai, Emile Heuer P.M., J.R. Richardson and Garry McKelvey.

Germanfest

Ok guys, this is it, our only fund raiser for the year. Even if you can’t attend a ticket or two purchase would be appreciated. Our building has recently seen the benefits of a positive cash flow. The rear apartment was redone, the ladies bathroom remodeled and we are currently working on the men’s bathroom even though it has taken a little longer than expected. At the last meeting we voted to have the sides of the building waterproofed so it will be completed from the back all the way to the front leaving only the front facade to be done. So…… With your help we will once again have a beautiful hall Please support this worthwhile endeavor.

Ten Master Masons
by Bro. Frank Wilson

Ten Master Masons, happy, doing fine;
One listened to a rumor, then there were nine.
Nine Master Masons, faithful, never late;
One didn't like the "Master", then there were eight.
Eight Master Masons, on their way to heaven;
One joined to many clubs, then there were seven.
Seven Master Masons, life dealt some hard licks;
One grew discouraged, then there were six.
Six Master Masons, all very much alive;
One lost his interest, then there were five.
Five Master Masons, wishing there were more;
Got into a great dispute, then there were four.
Four Master Masons, busy as could be;
One didn't like the programs, then there were three.
Three Master Masons, was one of them you?
One grew tired of all the work, then there were two.
Two Master Masons with so much to be done;
One said "What's the use", then there was one.
One Master Mason, found a brother - true!
Brought him to the Lodge, then there were two.
Two Master Masons didn't find work a bore;
Each brought another, then there were four.
Four Master Masons saved their Lodges fate;
By showing others kindness, then there were eight.
Eight Master Masons, loving their Lodges bright sheen;
Talked so much about it, they soon counted sixteen.
Sixteen Master Masons, to their obligations true;
Were pleased when their number went to thirty-two.
So we can't put our troubles at the Lodges door;
It's our fault for harming the Lodge we adore.

Don't fuss about the programs
or the "Master" in the East;
Keep your obligation by serving
even the very least.
