LODGE NEWS

It is more probable than not that we will reach 100 members this year! We currently have 93 members with four FC’s in waiting to be raised, a new plural member, another plural member in process and a young EA who transferred here from Alabama and wants to finish his degrees at Germania! This is exciting times for us; we never were a huge lodge and peaked at about 160 members in the 50’s and early 60’s. I believe that we have always attracted an interesting and diverse group of brothers that have always made us a great lodge. Please don’t misinterpret this that we have overflowing crowds at the lodge on meeting nights. With everyone working and trying to make a buck attendance is actually down a little and sometimes degrees are tougher and less impressive than they should be. If you can make a few meetings the fellowship is still great and you are most definitely needed!

We will be having a Master Mason degree at the regular meeting on May 26. We aren’t sure if we will be raising one or two but there will definitely be a MM degree. Please mark you calendar now, more brothers is so much more impressive for the candidates.

The Grand Masters relay team will be at our lodge on June 5 to do a run/walk for Special Olympics. I’ve heard a few brothers say that they would like to see us do more for charity and the community, well what a better opportunity than Special Olympics. Get as many pledges as possible and be at the lodge on June 5 at 12:00 p.m. for the event, you don’t have to run or walk, JUST BE THERE, and get pledges. Checks should be made out to G.M.R. for Special Olympics. Last year one of the runners brought his Cajun accordion and he promised to be back this year and pass a good time. We will have light refreshments, drinks and good fellowship.
Klaus “Joe” Kueck P.M. Secy.

NEW MEMBER
It is with open arms that we welcome Bro. Michael Lea Williams to Germania. Bro. Michael was raised in Louisiana Lodge #102 and became interested in Germania through Bro. Dan Mehn who was his Demolay counselor. Bro. Mike has traveled and lived in Prague, Chek Republic and knew that the Scottish Rite ritual was used there.

Last year he requested that Germania exemplify the Master Mason degree on him so he would know what to expect in a Chek Lodge. This cemented his desire to become a member of our lodge, so much so that he took out a perpetual membership after being notified that he was elected! We know that his job will take him all over the world and that he will spread the message of Germania Lodge #46!

Just in case you weren't feeling too old today, this will certainly change things. Each year the staff at Beloit College in Wisconsin puts together a list to try to give the faculty a sense of the mindset of this year's incoming freshmen.

Here's this year's list:

The people who are starting college this fall across the nation were born in 1985.

They are too young to remember the space shuttle blowing up.

Their lifetime has always included AIDS.

Bottle caps have always been screw off and plastic.

The CD was introduced the year they were born.

They have always had an answering machine.

They have always had cable.

They cannot fathom not having a remote control.

Jay Leno has always been on the Tonight Show.

Popcorn has always been cooked in the microwave.

They never took a swim and thought about Jaws.

They can't imagine what hard contact lenses are.

They don't know who Mork was or where he was from.

They never heard: "Where's the Beef?", "I'd walk a mile for a Camel", or "de plane Boss, de plane".

They do not care who shot J. R. and have no idea who J. R. even is.

McDonald's never came in Styrofoam Containers.

They don't have a clue how to use a typewriter.
