Last year, our 160 th year of existence, was historic in that besides
the anniversary, we also almost attained that appealing 100 member mark,
but unfortunately we lost two brothers to the grim reaper and one to NPD,
still we ended the year with 98 members in a year that we started with
91. A MOST SUCCESSFUL YEAR! We are carrying over many candidates for the
New Year and I don't see how we can not eclipse 100 members next year.
We all need to make an extra effort to make the degree meetings; it makes
them so much more impressive. Farewell to 50yr. members Bro. Emile Henley
and Albert R. Rohr.
Patrick Kueck and wife Gloria are the proud parents of Ethan Patrick Kueck, born on March 28. Oh, he is also my grandson and the reason for some seeing me smoking a big Cuban recently. Father, mom, grandparents and great grandmother all on cloud nine. ~k.kueck
Well, somebody had to do it and it just happened to be our outgoing W.M. Ion Lazar that purchased the last spot on the plaque for perpetual members! This gives us 26 perpetual members and one memorial perpetual. Fear not brothers, a new plaque is on order for all who whish to become a perpetual member in the future. Call me if you are interested. $1,000 cash or a little more for the installment plan. The price will never be as attractive as it is now.

MESSAGE FROM THE EAST
I appreciate everyone voting for me especially since I couldn't be there for the election. I have some activities planned for this year that haven't been done in many years, if at all. We will be visited by the Grand Master in April; it will be an open meeting and a fun night. The other activities that Germania normally has during the year such as the crawfish boil and Germanfest will be carried out as usual. In July we will continue our visitation with Indivisible Friends Lodge plus another York Rite lodge has asked me if they could also do this and I told them I would see what our calendar permits. Towards the fall of the year we will be visited by the Worthy Grand Matron and I hope to have the Honesty and Integrity awards presented this same night. These activities should have no effect on our degree work, which has been in high gear this past year. Again I thank all the brothers who showed confidence in me by voting me into this high position. I will now finish what I started to do in 1998, THANK YOU.
~Reed Holmes, PM/WM
Our web page has proven to be a most successful device in getting out the message of Masonry and Germania #46 and our Treasurer/webmaster works many hours each month to get it in the beautiful condition it is in. We have benefited from it! Our outgoing Worshipful Master Ion Lazar, Master Expert Nial Hartnett and two Tulane students who were raised last year all found us on the internet. We have had visitors from Germany, England, Hawaii and all over the United States. Bro. Ric also purchased our domain germania46.org and space for the page therefore there is a motion that will be voted on at the next meeting to: Pay Richard Bell $49.00 monthly to upgrade and maintain our web page as long as he holds the title of Treasurer.
This year our Germanfest was by far the very best we have ever had! We
grossed over $6,000 and cleared over $3000. There is still money coming
from ticket sales, pledges and donations. It's not too late to
send in money if you promised to buy tickets or donate. The crowd
was tremendous; we had to put out every table and chair we had! There
was a contingent of The Red Hat Society from Bay ST. Louis, Ms. and many
members of the Deutsches Haus present. The Haus members proved to be real
troopers and were the very last to leave. The food was wonderful and the
band most entertaining. We are already
looking forward to next year and the date is set for November 12 so mark your calendars now.
It doesn't seem possible that a year has passed already and
--- actually it hasn't, but… because of the moon, Mardi Gras falls
on Feb 8 and that only means one thing. Open House at
Germania for the Endymion Parade will be on Saturday,
Feb 5, so come early to get a parking place and bring your parade comfort
food. This has always proven to be a great time for members, family, guests
and occasionally tourists so put it on your calendar now and come enjoy
the festivities. The lodge, as usual will have the grill lit, all you
need to bring is something to put on it, a little drink and something
to share (chips, dip, veggies, sandwiches ect.)
MORE LODGE & District NEWS
As stated before Germania is well represented in the 16 TH DISTRICT.
The first meeting is at Etoile Polaire on Monday, January 31. Germania
will host on Thursday March 31, Galileo-Mazzini on Thursday June 30, Perseverance
on Thursday September 29 and Albert Pike on Wednesday November 30. As
W.M. of the district I plan on some fun and educational programs so please
consider supporting the district meetings this year. Come meet your brothers
from other lodges and find out what is going on around the district.
Condolences to Brother Rob Tewis who's grandfather passed away recently
at the age of 91.
Congratulations to Fellowcraft Jeff Alloway who was recently took his vows of Matrimony. Bro. Jeff is a friend of Bro. Mike Wills and will be raised early in 2005.
Our candidates need teaching; we need rehearsals and proficiency training so we are opening up the lodge on the 3 rd Wednesdays for those purposes. If a brother wants a certificate of perfection, if a candidate needs teaching, if we want to rehears for a funeral or a degree someone will be there for that purpose henceforth until further notice the lodge will be open for education on 3 rd Wednesdays .
Please note the amount of degrees scheduled for the early part of the year in the Trestle Board. We need skilled laborers and craftsmen to assist in the degrees so please make every attempt to be at the meetings. (especially degrees)
SOME BEAUTIFUL NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS (sent in by Bro. Ric Bell P.M.)
Think of the self-fulfillment and inner satisfaction if we all made and kept just a few of these resolutions?
This New year, mend a quarrel. Seek out a forgotten friend. Dismiss suspicion and replace it with trust. Write a love letter. Share some treasure. Give a soft answer. Encourage youth. Manifest your loyalty in word and deed. Keep a promise. Find the time. Forgo a grudge. Forgive an enemy. Listen. Apologize if you were wrong. Try to understand. Flout envy. Examine your demands on others. Think first of someone else. Appreciate. Be kind; be gentle. Laugh a little. Laugh a little more. Deserve confidence. Take up arms against malice. Decry complacency. Express your gratitude. Go to church. Welcome a stranger. Gladden the heart of a child. Take pleasure in the beauty and wonder of the earth. Speak your love. Speak it again.
