LODGE NEWS

Well we could have fit about two more cars in the parking lot but it was just about full for the Endymion Parade Open House. It was an outstanding turnout for a dazzlingly beautiful day. EA Wilson Revelle and his wife Darla were there early and stayed late helping in every way, their enthusiasm is contagious, and the lodge thanks them! Hopefully Bro. Wilson’s voyage to become a Master Mason in Germania Lodge #46 will be fulfilled soon! Our Tulane students/army cadets/brothers were also there with many of their Tulane friends. Bro. Clayton Money would be proud of the job that the Army has done in his and his Coast Guard buddies absence! Bro. Bello and his family were there as was Ray Steele, The Ric and Angie Bell family, my family including one year old Ian McIntire, my niece’s son, attending his very first Mardi Gras parade. Bro. Ian and Regina Cairns stopped buy and our custodian, Ken Cox, had a crew in from Oklahoma. Unfortunately the Gilmore’s couldn’t come but they did send a representative of the family, Maria’s son Rocky, his wife and sons. Bro. Hawthorne sent his daughter to stand in for him. I probably left someone off but…. It was a great time, the food wonderful and plentiful and everybody went home with tremendous smiles, peace and harmony prevailing.

Perpetual Membership

We are well on our way to filling out the new perpetual membership plaque. Three names have been added to it! Bro Tom Mason, Adam Schexnayder and Jacob Schexnayder have all applied for perpetual membership. If you are interested give me a call. The cost is $1,000 cash or five annual installments of $226. It’s based on the price of dues and is sure to increase over time so the time to buy is now. The cost for a memorial perpetual membership is $240. This gives us 29 perpetual memberships and one memorial.

Albert Pike Lodge won the traveling gavel at the first district meeting in January, can we win it next?

MESSAGE FROM THE EAST

Brothers:

The last two months have been very busy with degree work, we are making plans for some upcoming programs and the house committee is planning on some renovations inside Germania Hall.

The Grand Master will visit Germania the 13th of April.  We are planning a crawfish boil on May 7 th.  We will put this in the newsletter and send out announcements.

In June we are getting together with Level lodge for joint meetings as we have done for the last six years with Indivisible Friends #404. We will still have our customary joint meeting with Indivisible Friends in July.

We are thrilled that our degree work has sparked the interest of some of our new Master Masons. It must be contagious because our EA's & FC’s are helping too.  Their fertile minds are quickly grasping the fundamental teachings of Masonry and they are hungry for more and we are accommodating them as they progress in their degrees.

Practice What You Advocate (Sent in by 80 year old and raised last year Bro. John Markley)

Have you ever noticed that each succeeding year seems to be shorter than the past one?

A recent theory postulates that the reason for this is that in our youth we continually commit "first events" to memory and each year contains many memorable events--first loves, proms, marriage, first job, birth of children, baby's first steps, travels, etc., etc.

As one ages, the "been there; done that" phase takes over and there are fewer new high lights to commit to memory so the year appears shorter in retrospect.

One solution:  Travel to new places; meet new people; join an exercise club--book club--dance club; or public help organization.  Make a conscious attempt to expand your horizons and add excitement to your life even at the expense of reaching out of your comfort zone or doing things that may seem a bit scary.

The time may "fly" when you are busy doing something enjoyable but when you look back you will see a full and longer year.
