LODGE NEWS
Donations for restoration have been very generous and the officers and members thank the following members for their thoughtful donations. Beryl Jacobs, Ernest Freund, Glenn Cupit, Jack Zollinger, Eddie Bopp, Larry Chapoton.
We have also been the recipient of other donations. Brother Elmo Barnes of Perfect Union, owner a Jani King Janitorial Franchise, did mold remediation at our lodge at no cost. He was assisted by Bro. Bobby Brandstetter. That on top of the bleaching that was already done should have mold spores on the run. Bro. Joe Pacasio, owner of Carmine’s Restaurant also came through with a nice donation.
We have also received donations from other lodges besides the ones that were listed in the last newsletter. There were three that really stuck out like bright beacon lights. Two brothers from Arkansas made coins and sold them for our hurricane relief. They saved the last two coins and sent them to us along with a check for $1,500! They said they were just doing what they are supposed to do. They are Harold Pelton P.M. and Rick Braton P.M.; the lodges they represent are Congo # 743 and Sumptner #419 both in Benton Arkansas. They truly practice fraternal kindness and generosity. Hermann-Humboldt Lodge #125 also sent us a donation. They are the other lodge (the other was listed last newsletter) that still speaks German in Pennsylvania. They are concerned about keeping Masonry vibrant in the city of New Orleans. We also received a donation from five lodges of German origin in the Evansville Indiana area that want to support us and our heritage.
To update you on the lodge, Allied Music is now on its own power. It was an incredible struggle just to get it restored but thanks to Guy Wilson of Louisiana Lodge #102, Bro. Jim Miller, Mr. Louis Odenwald and Bro. George Dillenkoffer to name just a few it is now complete. Carlos has applied for an SBA loan and hopes to resume paying rent soon. He said that the musicians he deals with are scattered all over the country and a lot depends on them returning. Please remember that we still need donations, we haven’t received rent from Allied or our custodian since September and don’t know when they will be able to resume.
Our latest plural member is Bro Marc Conrad from Hiram Lodge #70. Bro. Marc has assisted us with SBA and FEMA paperwork and when it came time for a gritty work party he was there too. Bro. Marc is a Past Master of Hiram and very active in the Scottish Rite Consistory. He has benefited Germania long before we convinced him he should be a plural member. Welcome Bro. Marc.
Do you know Masons who:
Expect to be invited to his own Lodge.
Who gossip about their brethren.
Who are easily offended.
Who have to be reminded three times to pay their dues.
Who professes to believe in the fatherhood of God but hates his brother.
Who, when you read this think it is about other people and not yourself
Are you, at times, one of them?

A VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE If you lost your lambskin apron or you bible due to Katrina or Rita we want to replace them. Of course we can’t replace the signatures and memories of the originals but it is something. Please notify me if you lost yours or you know any member of Germania that lost theirs. I know some brothers might feel like they don’t want to trouble us because they haven’t been around in a while and don’t want to ask but nothing could be further from the truth. Please – let us know if you have lost these items. It’s a small price to pay for those that have lost so much. I’ve only heard from one widow and one brother that would like to apply for the Grand Lodge assistance fund. Please let me know before it’s too late if you want to apply . |
