BY – LAW CHANGE NOTICE
To be more efficient and to be in compliance with our Grand Lodge’s wishes, a motion was placed, 2 nd and passed to accept for change our election of officers to the first meeting in November as opposed to the current 1 st meeting in December. This gives us more time to plan for and installation banquet and it gives our Grand Lodge more time to plan for upcoming sessions and get recordings published on time. Because of it being a by-law change it will be held over until the July 8 th meeting and voted on then by all members present.
RELAY RUNNERS
Once again it’s time for the Grand Masters Relay Runners for Special Olympics to make their way across the state. They will end up at Germania on June 6 at noon. Please come run, walk, sit in the AC or what ever but support these worthy brothers who donate their own time to raise money for these beautiful kids. We will have refreshments; we just ask that you bring donations.
CRAWFISH BOIL AND TWO/FOUR LEADERS
The crawfish boil on May 30 was attended by about 75 people including brothers, friends, visitors, wives, girlfriends and kids but there two very special and unexpected visitors present, Grand Master Jeff Webb and the Senior Deacon, Philip Thibodeaux, were in town and made it a point to attend our boil. Both seemed totally captivated with “Germania Hospitality” and tried to shake the hands of everybody present (I don’t think they missed anybody). M.W. Jeff is probably the most down to Earth Grand Master you will ever meet and hopefully will be at our upstairs rededication when it is finished. He told us that even though he now lives in Toledo Bend and lived in North Louisiana he was born right here in Hotel Dieu in 1944 and never forgets his roots!
I saved the best for last – there were two other brothers present that hadn’t been to the lodge in a while for various reasons. Brothers Eldred Gilmore (Honorary Past Master) and wife Althea along with W. Bro. Eddie Bopp and wife Patsy were all present. Both express how impressed they were with the hall repairs and redecorating and how great it felt to be at the lodge with their brothers. They each then “held court” with all present, many of our new members meeting them for the first time. To have these great brothers present along with the good food, friendship and brotherly love was about as good as it gets.
Once again it never would have happened without the help of Bro. Robert Rapp. How many organizations can have a crawfish boil by simply making a phone call? One call, that’s all and Bro. Rapp along with his crew were there, 8 am, set up and boiling, keeping fresh, hot crawdads coming all day. Thank you Bro. Rapp, you are admired and appreciated!

THIRD WEDNESDAYS
Would you like to get a proficiency certificate? Like to seek more light? Ask questions about things you are uncertain about? Then come to the lodge every third Wednesday for classes. Bro. Andy Mims is having Masonic etiquette and esoteric classes on the 3rd Monday of each month. It’s a great time for Masonic learning in an informal atmosphere.

These last months have seen degrees and more degrees conferred at Germania! We are so fortunate to have initiated, passed and raised so many good men in the recent past months! Plus, we have several new plural members from other lodges who decided to also join & participate at our SPECIAL and UNIQUE Germania #46 Lodge. The only downside (and a minor one) is that we have not had time for sorely needed business and organizational meetings! I have some fundraisers that need discussion and scheduling. We may have to call some special meetings specifically for some of these degrees, so we can handle our business AND keep our regular meetings SHORT. I firmly believe that if we are to continue to attract our members to take their time to attend our meetings, that they be informative, impart new information & knowledge and be BRIEF! Our brotherly love and Masonic bonding occurs mostly at refreshment and special events, before and after our tyled lodge and I want to keep the necessary, but sometimes BORING “stuff”, as short as possible. Be prepared for a few called special meetings for degrees, in the next few months.
Vacation season is upon us again, so it is expected that some brothers will be absent at a meeting or two. I expect ALL OFFICERS to be present at all of our regular meetings, unless they notify our secretary or me in ADVANCE that they will be absent. I have never missed a lodge meeting since I have been a Mason, as an officer or not, whereby I neglected to inform the lodge that I would be absent. PLEASE, advise us of your intentions, if you are an officer, elected or appointed. My cell is 225-235-2463. Work is: 235-342-8425, M-F, 8-4.
As I advised all of you at my installation, I earnestly solicit and ask for consul, advice & suggestions from each and every one of you. Please contact me by e-mail at glenncupit@msn.com with your input. I want ALL Germania brothers to be heard.
By the time you read this, our annual crawfish boil will be a memory. I know it will again be a pleasant one. We had lots of non-masons, family and masons (including our Grand Master) partake of Brother Rapp’s delightful mudbugs on May 30. We owe Bro Robert Rapp ANOTHER round of gratitude for his always great seafood preparation!
Fraternally,
Glenn
