When we become Masons, we are not guaranteed to evolve into infallible
individuals incapable of doing wrong. It is not difficult to stray
from that path of honesty and integrity as mapped out to us in our
Masonic teachings.
Throughout our degree work we are constantly reminded what will
be expected of us. The exultant duties we owe to God, our families
and our fraternity are key elements of these constant reminders.
When we are called to vote on petitions, candidates or for the
election of officers, we are always told, “Brethren, we are
about to ballot……Be careful of your ballot and vote
for the good of the Order.”
Sometimes we forget this admonition and do not take our voting
rights seriously, casting ballots that could be devastating. If
a vote is cast for any reason other than “for the good of
the Order,” then it is wrong.
When we cast a ballot, our minds should be clear of any prejudices
and guided by sound Masonic principles. Our vote should be for “the
Good of the Order.” |
